Dee Dee Murry and her
longhaired dachshund, Hallie.

Dee Dee Murry was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Her main interests in art subjects are horses, dogs and wildlife. Her art is owned by clients world wide. She has achieved many regional and national awards with her art, including the Washington State Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year, Best of Show at the Puyallup Art Show over 1,000 entries, 1st in the Artist's Magazine national competition over 1600 entries, the top 20 in the highly competitive Federal Duck Stamp competition, as well as many others. Her love for animals shows through in her art where she strives to capture the personality and essence of the individual animal, as well as close attention to correct anatomy and detail.

Dee Dee works mainly in acrylic and graphite. She prefers to work on smooth surfaces such as gessobord or hot press watercolor paper, as it lends itself well to the level of detail she aims to achieve. Her preferred subjects are horses, dogs, cats and wildlife. She has a full schedule of commissioned pet portraits, of horses, dogs, cats and other animals.

In her spare time she enjoys spoiling Hallie, riding horses, spoiling Hallie, training Hallie (who holds several obedience titles as well as a Schutzhund BH), spoiling Hallie and photography. She and a friend made it into the Guiness Book of World Records for Equestrian Marathon.

Artist Comments:

What inspires me most when creating an idea for a painting, are beautiful horses in a scenic background, a moment in time captured when all of the elements come together for a split second...the lighting just right, a certain look in the horses eye, the mane and tail blowing in a beautiful shape. Something we'd all like to see and it could happen but we rarely if ever get the opportunity to witness it. I like to push this but not to the point of crossing over into fantasy, I want to keep it believable as if you could have really been there.
